3 Reasons Every Business Needs Social Media Marketing
Why does every business need social media marketing? It’s simple. Every company needs more customers! And your customers are on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Pinterest.
This is not rocket science. The businesses who are winning are just meeting their target audience where they spend most of their time.
Hint: It’s their social media apps like Facebook and YouTube, not newspapers or magazines.
Social media has taken the world by storm. Except dinosaur businesses act like it’s the year 2000 with their marketing and advertising budget. I personally don’t get it.
Once you understand the power that comes from meeting your customers where they spend their time, you’ll be upset your business didn’t act on this sooner.
You’ll also have a big smile on your face when you realize your company’s revenue is soaring thanks to social media.
Here’s why your business is going to win with social media marketing.
Why Businesses Need Social Media Marketing
1. Social media has all of the attention
It doesn’t matter if you have a B2B or B2C company, many of your customers are obsessed with social media. The stats don’t lie.
For example, Facebook’s audience is 4 to 5 times bigger than the entire US population. If your company isn’t active on Facebook or doing it well, then you’re missing out on thousands of people who are interested in your product or service.
That’s only Facebook. There’s also Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, and YouTube (the second biggest search engine in the world behind Google).
And as the grandparents generation gets more acclimated to social apps, these numbers will only increase with every passing year. The attention social media has over society is only growing in power.
People are literally addicted to scrolling through their feed. Why not show up in front of them every day with your posts and ads? Why not use this as an advantage for your business?
You have no choice but to if you want to succeed in business.
2. Allows you to build a relationship with your audience
Businesses who are in the business of people win in this age. Look at Amazon’s dominance. It all started with them being customer-focused first. Now most people feel a personal connection to Amazon.
And guess what? Your company can and needs to build a relationship with its audience. The outlet to do this is social media marketing.
Post regularly on Facebook, for example, and your audience will start to get a feel for your company, its values, and its culture. Do even better by recording videos that give value to the viewers.
Also don’t be scared to direct message your followers and give them a free gift card every once in awhile.
Can you imagine how excited they would be to get a notification that they’ve randomly won free money to your restaurant, for example? (They’d likely tell their family and friends, which is not the purpose, but excellent advertising for you. That’s one of many ideas in utilizing the best restaurant social media marketing.)
You won’t stand out if you only push out content to them and never listen. The companies who truly connect with their consumers give them a voice.
That means you need to ask your audience questions in social media posts, reply to comments, and run a giveaway where contestants need to comment something interesting to enter.
The point is to not make the communication 100% coming from your brand. Give your audience a voice.
And don’t be like the 70% of companies who ignore Facebook questions their fans ask. That defeats the purpose of building a relationship and establish trust with your audience.
To the companies that don’t respond, what are you doing?
3. Provides an opportunity for organic growth
If you’re following Step 2 and building a relationship with your audience, what will naturally happen is your social media following will grow.
Because when your audiences likes, comments, and shares your posts, new people will see your content on their news feed and check you out. Assuming the posts are high-quality, then they’ll likely follow you or like your page, which may introduce their followers to your company’s account and continue the cycle.
Organic growth is a major benefit of marketing on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. And let’s not forget when you provide value, you have your audience’s permission to sell to them every once in awhile.
The difference with paid advertising is there’s no organic growth.
For example, will spending $1,000 on a full page magazine ad get your company more brand awareness and sales in the next issue of that magazine? No. It’s pay to play and once you stop paying, you don’t get any readers to see more of your brand.
Magazine, newspaper, and billboard ads are too transactional for brands that want to win the long-game anyway.

Grow Your Company Through Social Media
The time is now to get started deploying social media marketing to grow your business.
Don’t wait a second later to get on this ball or it might be too crowded of a marketplace come 2019, 2020, and so on.
So make your company’s social media accounts if you don’t have them. If you do have them, spice them up with a quality profile picture, cover photo, and interesting bio that describes your brand.
Then start actively posting quality content your target audience wants to see. Record videos showing how to use your product if it’s a little technical. Answer audience questions to provide value. Educate your audience on DIY ways to accomplish the solution your service provides.
When you show up consistently and engage with the public, your follower account and then sales revenue are both going to increase over time.
